Solo Seat

An iconic feature of American classic bikes was the solo bicycle style seat that was mounted in a sprung seatpost providing some comfort for the hardtail frame.

A soft tail bike, which is to say one that at first glance looks like a hard tail - no suspension, but in fact has a hidden mono shock, can’t have a seat post because the mono shock sits where the seat post needs to sit. Sprung type seats for soft tails traditionally used twin rear springs to get round this issue.

It was an interesting challenge then to get something of the look of a traditional seatpost without twin springs mounted to the frame, you can choose whatever look you wish. Sometimes I will mount the seat directly to the frame, and that changes the bike a lot.
